60's Makeup

The swinging Sixities are having a big impact once again in the fashion world this season. Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs really set the tone with their checkerboard collection. They featured bright yellows and white with the trademark big hair and big eyes for makeup. In order to celebrate this lively and colourful trend I have made this moodboard of some of the statement looks. The best place to look for style inspiration on this trend is pictures from the sixties naturally! The best style icon for big eyes has to be Twiggy for her undereye drawn on lashes and her over-the-top eyeliner and eyeshadow. The rest of the face has been kept simple to exaggerate them even furthur.
The best place to look for dishelvelled hair is Bridget Bardot here we can see one of her piled up hairstyles that looks great with the thick fringe.

less is more!

I have not written a post in over three months! Today however I am showing my new love of shorter hair! I have had long hair since I can remember always being at least well below my shoulders. Within the past week however I decided to have a hair cut. I went for a collarbone length style that is still below the shoulders, however to me it feels very short! The inspiration behind this was styles I have seen on the likes of Emma Stone and Lizzie (Elizabeth) Olsen. I opted for a style that was basically one length all round and layered only around the face as I believe this to be the most versatile and it allows full body from root to tip.

A medium length style is very versatile as it suits most people, it especially suits longer face shapes and heart shapes. It works for these face shapes due to it drawing attention to the lower part of the face and making the face look smaller. Shorter hair will make the face look more in proportion if you have a long face shape. I myself have a heart face shape and need more attention to the jawbone and chin as this is the smallest part of my face, having a medium hairstyle achieves this more than a longer style.
It is a very flattering cut and therefore I believe more people should try it out after looking at these pictures who wouldn't want to!

The Fanning sisters!

My newest style icons are the lovely Fanning sisters. Its weird for me to have a style icon who is firstly the same age as me (Dakota) and also someone that is 4 years younger than me! However these girls sum up everything that I love about fashion, pretty, girly clothes with an edgy touch. I am soon to have my own photo shoot and I hope to recreate this look in the photos. This is a simple post I admit but these photos speak for themselves I love this look! (I do not own any photos below they are mostly from Marie Claire!)

Eyeliner on the decline!

Quite recently eyeliner has been flipped and been worn on the lower lash line rather than above the eye. This look has caught my attention and therefore I thought I would share it with you and try it out for myself. The best way to showcase this look is with bright teal colours rather than the usual black. This makes the look more of a statement and up to date.
Here we can see that bright blue has been used on the waterline and beneath it.
Here eyeliner has been used all around the eye but mostly beneath.
Eyeliner has been used above here with an interesting flick beneath the eye.

This is my look I have used a teal eye pencil underneath the eye.

Tartan Vs Tweed

I have recently found a tartan dress which instantly reminded me of the Stella McCartney version worn by Emma Watson and other various celebrities. It is a popular choice amongst celebrities and I can see why! One of the latest trends however is the return of the Tweed and therefore I thought I would showcase both so that you can decide on which pattern best suits you. The rock idol pattern tartan, or the countryside style, tweed. Both of these looks at essentially british and I think it is great to incorporate the traditional patterns with new modern looks.
